If you LOVE WINGS, You need to try this HOT HONEY CHICKEN WINGS recipe!
These Hot Honey Chicken wings are packed with flavor! BUT If this Hot Honey Chicken wing recipe isn't your thing, you can follow the cooking instructions for the wings then enjoy as is or slather on your favorite sauce. These wings turn out so crispy and juicy, you can even eat them as is! Air Fryer, deep fry and oven baked instructions are all listed below!
These HOT HONEY CHICKEN WINGS cooked in the Air Fryer are the BEST of both worlds.
One of my favorite appliances in my home is my Air Fryer, and if you have one (or 3 Air Fryers like me), you know why! I do love a good ole fried chicken, but I try to limit how often we deep fry. The oil fry smell that lingers in my house for days after frying is the worst.

The SECRET to this crispy HOT HONEY CHICKEN WINGS recipe without deep frying is BAKING POWDER & POTATO STARCH!
It is very important to use aluminum free baking powder, not baking soda which is usually in an orange box. The baking powder helps draw out the moisture from the skin which results in a crispy HOT HONEY CHICKEN WING!
Every Air Fryer is Different.
I have 3 Air fryers, and my newest one is a BEAST. I would recommend checking at 15-20 minutes the internal temp with a meat probe. You might need another 5 mins at 400 to finish the cook or brown up the chicken some more.

If you don't have an Air Fryer don't worry, this recipe can easily be done in an oven or deep fried as well!
Oven Cooking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400F.
- Place your wings onto a baking rack for best results. Bake at 400F for 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on your wing size. Flip at the 25-30 minute mark once it has browned.
Deep Fry Cooking Instructions
- Omit the Baking powder if deep frying. Deep fry wings at 350 for 8-12 minutes. I use a big pan that has a lot of space for the wings so mine were cooked at the 8 minute mark. Try not to crowd the pan if possible and cook in small batches to give the wings space to cook evenly.

Notes
- Dry your wings very well before seasoning to ensure a crispy wing!
- Be sure to use baking powder that is aluminum free and not baking soda (orange box)
- Cooking the chicken on a wire rack inside the air fryer will result in a crispier chicken wing. The wire rack promotes air circulation and helps the juice drip away from the chicken.
