OK, so what is the SECRET (not so secret) Ingredient for LA Style Short Ribs?
The secret ingredient for LA Style Short ribs is.. Drumroll.... the KOREAN PEAR! While some recipes opt to omit the Korean Pear to simplify the recipe, I have found that the tenderizing properties from the pear make this a MUST use ingredient. The ribs remain tender even if cooked to well done. If the Korean pear or Asian pear is unavailable near you, any pear will work for this recipe.
