Chicken Breast or Tenders are not something we eat in our household often, but there are no complaints when Doritos Air Fried Chicken Tenders are on the menu! My kids love eating Air Fryer Chicken Tenders now.
With the help of an AIR FRYER, Doritos Chicken Tenders only take 20 minutes start to finish!

Do I have to use FLOUR and EGGS for this recipe?
I totally get it! Since eggs are cost an arm and a leg these days, there is an alternative to using eggs and flour. You can sub ¾ cup of Mayo , Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt in place of the eggs and flour. The seasonings for the flour can be added to the Mayo, Sour Cream or Yogurt instead.

Equipment
- 1 Air Fryer or Oven 400 Deg for 15-20 mins
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs Chicken Tenders or breast (cut into ¾" Strips)
- 2 Large Eggs or sub ¾ cups Mayo, or Sour Cream, or Greek Yogurt
- 7-8 oz Chips (2.5 cups crumbled) If your chip crumble doesn't taste salty enough, Add more salt to taste
- Oil Spray for air fryer basket and chicken
Chicken Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Salt
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- ¼ tsp Paprika
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
Flour or Mayo Seasoning
- ½ cup Flour ( If using Mayo and not eggs, omit flour)
- 1.5 tsp Garlic Salt
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- ¼ tsp Black Pepper
- ¼ tsp Paprika
Instructions
- **If using an Oven Preheat oven to 400 F before starting. Line a baking sheet with foil, and place a metal rack on top.
- 1. Cut Chicken into ¾" strips if you are not using Chicken Tenders
- 2. Add Chicken to a bowl and season with the folowing seasonings: (1 teaspoon Garlic Salt, 1 teaspoon Onion Powder, ¼ teaspoon Paprika, ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper)
- 3. Crush the Doritos by using a food processor or blender, or crush by hand in a plastic bag. The mixture should be crushed with some slightly larger pieces for texture.
- 4. Pour the Doritos crumbs into a bowl

If using Eggs and Flour:
- 5. If using Eggs and Flour, Beat 2 eggs into a bowl, and into a separate bowl combine ½ cup flour with the following seasonings: 1.5 teaspoon Garlic Salt, 1 teaspoon Onion Powder, ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper, ¼ teaspoon Paprika
- 6. Prepare your dredging stations, Flour, Egg and Crushed Doritos
- 7. First Dip your chicken into the flour mix and shake off the excess
- 8. Coat the chicken with egg on all sides, letting the excess drip off
- 9. Add the chicken to the crushed Doritos and use a spoon to scoop Doritos over the Chicken and with chips. Use your hands or spoon to press the Doritos onto the chicken, and carefully transfer to Air Fryer. Repeat until done.



- 10. If Air Frying spray the Air Fryer Basket and the Chicken with oil. Air Fry at 380 for 8-10 minutes and flip at the 4 minute mark. Cook until Internal Temperature reaches 165 deg. Start checking the Chicken for doneness with a meat thermometer between 7-8 minutes.
- 11. If using an Oven, Spray the chicken that has been placed on the metal rack. Bake at 400 def F for 15-20 minutes and flip at the 8 minute mark. Cook until Internal Temperature reaches 165 deg. Start checking the Chicken for doneness with a meat thermometer at 15 minutes.
- 12. Enjoy!

If using Mayo/Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt:
- 5. If not using Eggs and flour, Combine Mayo into a bowl with the following seasonings: ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper, 1.5 teaspoon Garlic Salt, 1 teaspoon Onion Powder, ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 6. Add the Chicken to the mixing bowl with the Mayo
- 7. Remove Chicken one by one and add to the Doritos mixture. Use a spoon to scoop Doritos over the Chicken and with chips. Use your hands or spoon to press the Doritos onto the chicken, and carefully transfer to Air Fryer or Baking Rack. Repeat until done
- 8. If Air Frying spray the Air Fryer Basket and the Chicken with oil. Air Fry at 380 for 8-10 minutes and flip at the 4 minute mark. Cook until Internal Temperature reaches 165 deg. Start checking the Chicken for doneness with a meat thermometer between 7-8 minutes.
