This CRISPY Asian Chicken thigh recipe was one of the first things I cooked in my new Air Fryer.
One of my favorite appliances in my home is my Air Fryer, and if you have one (or 2 Air Fryers like me), you know why! As a mom of three, I love being able to create easy healthy meals in less than 30 minutes with the help of my air fryer. If you aren't part of the Air Fryer Fam yet, don't worry, You can also easily make my Asian chicken air fryer recipe in your oven at 400 deg for 20 minutes.
Every Air Fryer is Different.
I have 2 Air fryers, and one is 1400 watts, and one is 900 watts. Both air fryers cook this chicken very well. However, my stronger air fryer does crisp up the skin faster and cooks a few minutes faster as well, 15 mins vs 20 min. I would recommend at the 15 minute mark to always check on the progress of your chicken.
Not using boneless chicken thighs? Here are some cooking times and instructions for different cuts:
Bone In Chicken Thigh:
Air fryer (20-25 minutes total) - 400°F for 10 minutes skin side down, flip over and cook an additional 10-15 minutes skin side up.
Oven (30-40 minutes total) - 400°F for 10 minutes skin side down, flip over and cook an additional 20-30 minutes skin side up.
Drumsticks:
Air Fryer (20 minutes total) - 400°F for 10 minutes, flip over and cook another 10 minutes.
Oven (35-40 minutes total) - 400°F for 20 minutes and flip over and cook another 15-20 minutes.
Chicken Breast:
Air Fryer (16-19 minutes total) - 360°F for 10 minutes, flip and cook another 6-9 minutes.
Oven (20-25 minutes total - 400°F for 10 minutes, flip and cook another 10-15 minutes.

- 2 lbs Chicken Thighs (I used boneless but skin on)
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- ½ tsp Seasoned Salt
- ½ tsp Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce – Low Sodium
- 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
- ½ tbsp Sesame Oil
- ½ tbsp Seasoning Sauce
Instructions
- Add Chicken to a mixing bowl
- Add all seasonings: 1 tsp Onion Powder, 1 teaspoon Garlic powder, ½ tsp Seasoned Salt, ½ tsp Black Pepper, 1 tbsp Soy Sauce – Low Sodium,1 tbsp Oyster sauce, ½ tbsp Sesame Oil, and ½ tbsp Seasoning Sauce.
- Set aside chicken for 30 minutes to marinate
- Preheat air fryer to 380, and add in the chicken skin side up. Check at the halfway point on the progress. Depending on your air fryer , it may take 15-20 minutes to cook fully.
- Once your chicken reaches internal temperature of 165 deg, It's ready!
